About Timelimes

What is it?

Timelimes is a web aggregator. It's a way of 'mashing together' all the news and events from your social networking, webmail, news and other websites into one simple page, so you don't need to open up a dozen web sites when you sit down at your computer.

It's based upon the idea that information should come to you, even if you're on the move. That's why we've included a mobile version so you access all your information directly from your web-enabled mobile or cellular phone.

Timelimes allows you to subscribe to feeds, which you can do from the Feed Library. Feeds can be something simple, like a news service, or something more complicated like webmail, Facebook or Twitter. You can visit the feed library and browse the feeds to see some examples.

Security

Timelimes will never store your password for any third-party services. We use authorization protocols such as oAuth, so you only ever disclose your password to the service provider.

You can read more about oAuth here, but as a quick overview let's say you want to subscribe to the Twitter feed. Timelimes will redirect you to a special page on twitter.com, where you log in and choose whether or not to give Timelimes access to your Twitter account. If you permit, Twitter sends Timelimes a special random token. That token permits Timelimes to access only the parts of your Twitter account that you allow. For example, you may choose to permit TImelimes to read your feed information, but not to update your status.

Furthermore, your token can only be used by Timelimes. Any requests using the special token which don't originate from Timelimes and aren't digitally signed won't work.

You can also revoke the token from your Twitter profile page any time you like.

This way, we never need to know your Twitter (or any other service) password.

How does it work?

  1. Sign up for a Timelimes account. It's completely free to join and all you need is an e-mail address to get started (we'll never send you spam).
  2. Subscribe to some feeds. Go to the feed library to view the recommended feeds, browse the collection by category, search by keyword or look at which feeds are popular.
  3. That's it! You're done. Go to your homepage and check out what's been happening. You might also consider making Timelimes your home page and inviting friends to join.
